Latest from the W.I.

The Christmas Dinner Evening on December 3rd was a lovely social occasion for us all. Everyone enjoyed the festive fare provided so efficiently by our caterers and we all went home with a lovely gift. Birthday Posies were given to Ladies who had a birthday in December and may we take this opportunity to thank Nonee for making them each month, They are always so pretty and a delight to receive. May we also thank all those who came to prepare the hall, especially Rick Anstey who saved us a lot of time by putting up our Christmas Tree for us. Pam, as always, made beautiful Christmas table centres which would grace many a Goldhanger table on Christmas Day for those who won them.

We missed having the company of Kathleen, Winnie , Jill and Margaret on the evening and hope that they are now feeling much better.

We look forward to going to see the Maldon Panto, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs on January 23rd and we will be hosting a Lent Lunch on 27th February. We will also be going Ten Pin Bowling and having lunch at the Izumi in the near future. So lots to look forward to in 2015.

Happy New Year everyone.

Eileen Watling

The members of the W.I. are mourning the sad loss of our dear friend Eileen, who so tragically died in hospital on October 29th.

Eileen and her lifelong friend, Winnie Wright, joined the W.I. on the same evening in 1959.

Eileen volunteered so much of her time and energy to W.I. activities over the years and ran the Flower of the Month competition for many of them, as well as her “Pennies for Friendship” method for choosing the winners.

Her sense of humour and vitality have been an inspiration to many members and we extend our sympathy to her family on the loss of a vibrant and respected lady.
